Start your engineering career with a dedicated mentor from day one

Enterprise Automation Services (EAS) is a Cardiff and Halifax consultancy that builds AI assistants, automates workflows, engineers cloud infrastructure and delivers bespoke platforms for UK businesses. Our clients range from major banks such as Lloyds Banking Group and Deutsche Bank to fast-growing SMEs, so the work is varied and real.

We’re hiring several trainee and junior developers across the business. We can teach technical skills. What we hire for is curiosity, ownership and a willingness to keep learning.

What you’ll do

  • Build, test and maintain software and applications alongside experienced engineers
  • Write and review code, investigate issues, fix defects and document your changes
  • Work on front-end, back-end or full-stack features, API integrations, and database or cloud solutions, depending on your team
  • Use version control and pull requests to share progress and learn from feedback
  • Take part in pair programming, code reviews, demos and technical discussions
  • Take on more client-facing and production responsibility as your confidence grows

How we’ll train you

  • A dedicated mentor who plans your development with you, reviews your code and answers your questions
  • Hands-on training across cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), Docker and Kubernetes, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible), CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins and modern equivalents), application development and AI-assisted automation
  • A culture where asking questions early is the expectation, and feedback goes both ways

Benefits

  • 25 days’ annual leave to start, rising by one day for each year of service up to 30
  • Workplace pension with Scottish Widows
  • A dedicated mentor and structured training from day one
  • Permanent, full-time contract

About you

  • A genuine interest in software development, DevOps, or AI and automation
  • Foundational coding experience in any language (university, bootcamp, personal projects or work all count)
  • A grasp of version control, testing, debugging and documentation
  • Curiosity, self-motivation and a commitment to learning
  • Clear communication, and the confidence to ask for help when you’re stuck
  • Comfort giving and receiving constructive feedback
  • An interest in solving real business problems, not only writing code

Experience with any of these is a bonus, but not required: JavaScript, Java, C#, Python, SQL, Git, Linux, REST APIs, cloud platforms.

Where we’d hope you are after year one

Own your work from design through delivery, contribute to code reviews and demos, work comfortably with clients and senior consultants, and help others learn as you continue to grow.

How to apply

Apply through the form on our careers page: https://www.enterpriseautomation.co.uk/careers. It takes a few minutes. You’ll need:

  • Your CV (PDF, Word, ODT, RTF or TXT, up to 5MB), however long or short
  • A short covering note on why you’re interested and what stage you’re at
  • Optionally, links to anything you’ve built, such as GitHub or a side project. Skip this if you have none yet.

A real person reads every application, and nothing here is a test of formatting.

Not sure you’re experienced enough? Apply anyway. We’d rather talk to someone with curiosity and potential than miss a good engineer who counted themselves out.

Applicants must have the right to work in the UK and be able to pass a background check. We’re unable to offer visas or sponsorship.
