JackHB Media
Junior Video Editor
Freelance Junior Video Editor – Social Media Content
Location: Dorset & surrounding areas
Job Type: Freelance, ongoing work
Company: Jack HB Media
About the role
Jack HB Media is looking for a reliable freelance video editor to support us with ongoing social media content for our clients.
We regularly receive batches of footage from clients that need turning into engaging, professional short-form videos for platforms such as Instagram, Facebook and TikTok.
The workflow is straightforward. We provide the raw footage and editing direction via Google Drive, you complete the initial edits, and then handle any reasonable revisions or changes required before final delivery.
We're looking for someone we can build an ongoing working relationship with and regularly hand editing work over to as our workload grows.
What you'll be doing
- Editing short-form social media videos from supplied footage
- Creating engaging cuts suitable for Reels, TikTok and other social platforms
- Adding professional captions, text and graphics where required
- Selecting appropriate B-roll from supplied footage
- Basic audio editing and sound design
- Basic colour correction and grading
- Following briefs and existing client editing styles
- Making revisions based on feedback
- Organising and delivering finished files efficiently
- Working to relatively tight turnaround times when required
What we're looking for
You don't need years of agency experience, but you do need to be confident editing video to a professional standard.
Ideally, you'll have:
- Experience editing social media content
- A good understanding of pacing, hooks and viewer retention
- Strong attention to detail
- Good typography and captioning skills
- An understanding of vertical 9:16 content
- Confidence working with talking-head footage and B-roll
- Good communication and reliability
- Ability to follow a brief while also making creative editing decisions yourself
- Ability to manage revisions without needing constant direction
- Your own editing setup
You can edit using Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve or Final Cut Pro. We're more interested in the quality of your work than which software you use.
Location
Applicants should be based in Dorset or the surrounding areas.
The editing itself will predominantly be completed remotely, but we're specifically looking to build a working relationship with someone relatively local.
There may also be opportunities to get involved with additional content production and filming work in the future.
Workload & turnaround
This is freelance work rather than a fixed full-time position. The amount of work will vary depending on current client projects, but we're looking for someone who can become our go-to editor for ongoing client content.
Some projects will require quick turnarounds, so reliability, communication and the ability to meet deadlines are important.
A freelance pricing structure will be provided for the work.
How to apply
Please include:
- A short introduction about yourself
- Your location
- 2–3 examples of short-form/social media videos you have personally edited
- A portfolio or showreel if available
- The editing software you use
- Your typical availability and turnaround time
We're particularly interested in seeing actual social media edits, rather than only cinematic showreels or long-form video work.
Applications without examples of relevant editing work may not be considered.
