This role is located in our LEEDS CITY CENTRE office (UNITED KINGDOM) We require the person to be in the office at least 4 out of 5 days per week. We also require full right to work with no sponsorship required.

Who we are

We're the software arm of a national business advisory and financial services group. We build fintech products that real businesses run on, covering risk, analytics, CRM and people data, alongside AI automation that's changing how the wider group works. We also take on software projects for external clients. That work is varied, puts you in requirements conversations early, and opens doors to consultancy or senior product roles later.

Much of what we build starts as an idea from within the engineering team, and engineers are involved from the design stage rather than picking up tickets someone else has written.

The group is one of the UK's fastest-growing mid-tier advisory firms, with revenue up 20% last year, offices from Glasgow to London, and a target of doubling again by 2029. The engineering team is still small, so the people joining now will be the seniors and leads as it scales.

What you'll do

  • Build features across the full stack, with support from senior engineers where needed. We use TypeScript end-to-end: Next.js and React 19, NestJS, PostgreSQL, Docker and Azure.
  • Learn how we work with AI coding agents: breaking a problem down, writing a clear spec, reviewing what the agent produces and checking it actually works. We'll teach you to do this properly. You stay the engineer making the decisions, and the AI makes those decisions faster and better informed.
  • Work in a lightweight agile process: short sprints, standups and regular retros, shipping small, reviewable increments rather than big-bang releases.
  • Review code and have yours reviewed, including AI-generated code, with tests and verification as part of every change.
  • Take features from design to production: contribute to UI/UX decisions, build it, and see it deployed to Azure through the CI/CD pipeline.
  • Work directly with the people in the business who use what you build, and turn their problems into product.

What we're looking for

  • At least 6 months of paid, commercial experience building React (or Next.js) applications. Placement years and paid freelance work count; university, bootcamp and personal projects on their own don't.
  • Working knowledge of TypeScript. Node.js backend experience (NestJS, Express or similar) is a plus but not essential as we will help you pick this up.
  • A clear picture of how the parts of a modern web product fit together: frontend, API layer, backend, database and tests.
  • Experience using AI coding tools (Claude, Copilot, Cursor or similar).
  • Good UX instincts: you notice when something is clunky or confusing to use.
  • Able to reason clearly about trade-offs and explain your thinking.

Nice to have: a Computer Science or STEM degree, PostgreSQL, Docker, Azure, experience in fintech or another regulated sector.

What we offer

  • £30,000–£35,000 depending on experience, reviewed at 12 months and adjusted to reflect your growing skills and contribution.
  • Direct mentoring across the full lifecycle: product specification, UI/UX design, frontend and backend engineering on a modern stack, AI-assisted development, and Azure infrastructure and DevOps.
  • Generous access to frontier AI coding agents from Anthropic and OpenAI.
  • 26 days holiday plus bank holidays, with your birthday off, the option to buy 5 more, and up to 4 weeks a year working abroad.
  • Flexible start and finish times around 10am–4pm core hours.
  • Pension with Royal London, with Sedulo matching extra contributions up to 2%.
  • Medicash health plan paid for you, with cashback on dental, optical, physio and prescriptions, plus 24/7 GP access via Help@Hand.
  • Enhanced sick pay, death in service at 4x salary, and income protection.
  • Electric car and cycle-to-work salary sacrifice schemes, and a season ticket loan.
  • Free breakfasts, snacks and socials at the office club.

Pay: £30,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
