🚀 Junior Software Engineer | Python & SQL

Location: Chiswick, London

Salary: £40,000–£45,000 + discretionary performance bonus

We’re working with an established commodities trading business that is growing its engineering team and looking for a Junior Software Engineer to join a small, high-ownership environment.

This is an opportunity to work on real technology from day one , with your work directly supporting Trading, Finance and Operations.

💻 The Role

You’ll be working alongside experienced engineers to:

• Build and improve applications using Python and SQL
• Develop real features and automation
• Work on genuine business and technical problems
• Investigate bugs and learn structured debugging approaches
• Write clean, maintainable and well-tested production code
• Work directly with the people using the software
• Contribute ideas and gradually take ownership of more complex work

🛠️ What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone with 0–1 years of industry experience , or strong Python/SQL experience gained through personal projects, placements or bootcamps.

You should have:

• Experience with Python & SQL
• Understanding of relational databases, querying, schemas and transactions
• Familiarity with Git
• Basic knowledge of REST APIs, HTTP and JSON
• A structured approach to debugging and problem solving
• A genuine curiosity for technology and willingness to learn

You don't need to know everything . Experience with areas such as AWS, React, Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka, CI/CD, Airflow or data visualisation is beneficial, but there will be plenty of opportunity to learn these on the job.
