Junior Graphic Designer

Location: Leicester, LE8
Job Type: Full-time, Fixed-Term Contract (12 Months)

About the Role

We're looking for an enthusiastic and talented Junior Graphic Designer for The Art Group to join our team on a 12-month fixed-term contract.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone at the beginning of their design career who is keen to gain hands-on experience, develop their creative abilities and learn how products are designed and brought to market.

Working closely with our Art Group Designer and wider commercial design team, you'll support the creation of exciting product and packaging designs, helping to turn initial ideas and concepts into finished products.

You'll be involved in a variety of creative projects; developing your skills across graphic design, artwork creation, product mock-ups and packaging to produce visually appealing artwork, graphics and concepts that meet commercial and customer expectations, while gaining valuable experience of the complete product development process.

We're looking for someone with a good foundation in graphic design, a strong eye for detail and a positive, can-do attitude. Most importantly, you'll be enthusiastic about learning, receptive to feedback and excited by the opportunity to develop as a designer.

About You

You don't need years of industry experience to be successful in this role. We're looking for someone with a strong creative foundation, a genuine interest in design and the motivation to learn and develop.

Ideally, you'll have:

  • A qualification in Graphic Design or a related creative discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • A good understanding of graphic design principles, including typography, layout, colour and visual communication.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.
  • An interest in exploring AI design platforms and emerging creative technologies.
  • A creative mindset with the ability to develop ideas and translate them into engaging visual concepts.
  • A good eye for detail and pride in producing accurate, high-quality work.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Good communication skills and the confidence to work collaboratively with others.
  • A willingness to take direction, accept constructive feedback and continuously improve.

An understanding of product design, packaging or the wider product development process would be beneficial but is not essential.

The Personal Qualities We're Looking For

You'll be someone who:

  • Has a genuine passion for creativity and design.
  • Is enthusiastic, motivated and keen to learn new skills.
  • Takes a proactive approach and enjoys getting involved in different projects.
  • Is organised, reliable and has excellent attention to detail.
  • Has a positive, can-do attitude and enjoys working as part of a team.
  • Is adaptable and comfortable working to deadlines in a busy environment.
  • Communicates well and is confident asking questions and sharing ideas.
  • Is professional, approachable and supportive of colleagues.

Whilst by no means essential, an interest in the creative, cultural and fine art sectors would be advantageous, as would an appreciation of contemporary design, illustration and visual trends.

We welcome applications from candidates with a range of creative backgrounds and experiences. Whether you're a recent graduate, have completed a design qualification or have developed your skills through practical experience, we'd love to hear from you.
