Junior Data Engineer

The post holder will be responsible for the regular collection, storage and processing of data required by West and North London ICB. The post-holder will be required to design the processes used to refresh the data and keep a register detailing all the data sources with detailed data definitions and latency. They would have the overall responsibility to communicate on data availability to analytics and any delays with data delivery.

This post will be set within the Data Engineering and Data Management team working collaboratively with other colleagues to integrate datasets into our data warehouse and run data quality checks. This will require the post-holder to lead on the development of pipelines to ingest data into the data warehouse and to adapt the pipelines as changes are made to data specification.

The post-holder will be expected to contribute to the development of a performance-focused culture where safety, effectiveness and patient experience are consistently delivered through the provision of high-quality information, analytical interpretation, benchmarking, forecasting and intelligent modelling.

The post-holders will play a critical role in the future development of the ICB’s data warehouse, associated data quality reports and management reports as well as delivering reference data management and transformations required by the analytics teams

This role sits within the business intelligence team, strategy directorate and supports the development, alignment and delivery of system-wide priorities that advance the ICB’s mission to improve population health and reduce health inequalities.

The post holder will support a utomation of processes and procedures using appropriate tools to optimise workflows, reduce dependencies on manual resources, and decrease error rates

Implement processes to investigate data errors, identify and analyse source of variations of errors in information reports.

Monitor and audit data quality and work with colleagues, from across the organisation, to improve quality of the information.

Interrogate production database as required to address issues flagged

Manage and maintain the data dictionary for the department to cover the datasets available in the data warehouse, data source, frequency/latency etc.

Ability to understand complex information, diagnose system issues & formulate appropriate solutions Develop and maintain relationships with data providers, DSCRO as well as One London data and analytics service teams w ork with a range of stakeholders to gather requirements for new data feeds and changes to existing data feeds

Contribute to effective team working by transferring specialist skills and knowledge to appropriate staff and ensuring that working procedures are properly documented and maintained

Ensure the IG processes and procedures are followed before acquiring the data and also report any data breaches/incidents on a timely basis

En sure data issues are logged via the appropriate service desk portal used by One London data and analytics service, DSCRO teams and follow-up to ensure there is timely resolution

We are looking for a passionate junior data engineer who is responsible for supporting development and maintenance of data engineering pipelines, workflows and Snowflake apps for West and North London ICB. The post holder will be working as part of a multi-disciplinary team alongside data engineers, analysts and data scientists, the role holder will develop core data engineering skills while contributing to the delivery of data products and services.
