Salary - £40,000 - £60,000

London/ Remote

A leading insurance organisation is looking for a Junior Data Engineer to join its growing data function. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career Data Engineer who wants to build their skills in a modern cloud data environment and gain hands-on experience across both central data platforms and business-facing data products.

You’ll work across two areas of the data estate: the core data platform and embedded data products within individual business units.

You’ll have the opportunity to develop your skills across modern data engineering, with training provided on Databricks and AWS-based technologies.

You’ll be involved in:

• Developing and supporting data pipelines and data products.
• Working with Python and SQL to transform and process data.
• Contributing to the organisation’s core data platform.
• Working alongside business teams to develop embedded data products.
• Learning and applying Databricks within an AWS environment.
• Supporting data quality, reliability and engineering best practice.
• Working with more experienced engineers and learning from real-world data engineering challenges.
• Contributing ideas and asking questions to improve how data is delivered across the business.

About You

We’re looking for someone with over 1 year of commercial experience who has a genuine interest in developing their career in data engineering.

You’ll ideally have:

• Commercial experience using Python and SQL.
• A good conceptual understanding of data engineering principles.
• An interest in cloud and modern data technologies.
• A willingness to learn Databricks and AWS — previous Databricks experience is not required.
• A curious, proactive approach and genuine enthusiasm for solving problems.
• The confidence to ask questions, explore different approaches and learn from others.

Attitude and potential are just as important as your existing technology stack. You don’t need to know everything already – this role is designed for someone who wants to learn and grow into a strong Data Engineer.
