The Role
As a Junior Cyber Security Engineer, you will work in a team that supports design, development & application of configuration security tools and monitoring for infrastructure.
Day-to-day, you’ll review and investigate security events to identify root cause and required responses to reduce and mitigate any vulnerabilities.
Your responsibilities will include:
Conducting daily SIEM health checks to ensure all devices are logging correctly and data flows remain stable
Monitoring log volumes, identifying anomalies, and escalating service issues to the Service Delivery Team
Reviewing and triaging SIEM alarms, correlating alerts with known activities and investigating potential security incidents
Performing security investigations using SIEM tools and log analysis techniques to determine appropriate resolution actions
Producing weekly and monthly security reports, including presenting findings and updates at Security Working Groups
Managing analyst rota scheduling to maintain continuous PROMON coverage and operational effectiveness
Essential experience of the Junior Cyber Security Engineer:
Previous experience working as a SOC analyst
The ability to apply critical thinking to analyse and solve problems as they arise
Prior experience in a cyber security technical role
Understanding cyber security, its significance, concepts, threats, vulnerabilities and assurance
Previous experience using SIEM tools and log analysis techniques

This role is 37 hours per week based at our Farnborough site and is fully on-site.
