Junior Chef

Millard House is a family-run, award-winning care home located in Bocking, Braintree, providing high-quality residential care for up to 42 elderly residents.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, reliable and motivated **Junior Chef** to join our friendly kitchen team.

Key Responsibilities

* Prepare and cook fresh, nutritious and enjoyable meals for our residents.

* Assist with menu planning and ordering food supplies according to the kitchen's needs.

* Demonstrate a good knowledge of traditional **British cuisine**, including ingredients, recipes and cooking methods.

* Accommodate residents' dietary requirements, preferences and modified-texture diets.

* Maintain excellent standards of food hygiene, cleanliness and kitchen safety.

* Work proactively, demonstrate initiative and support colleagues as part of a team.

* Communicate respectfully and positively with elderly residents, recognising their individual needs and preferences.

* Occasionally undertake shifts as a **Servery Assistant**, supporting meal service and interacting with residents.

What We Are Looking For

* Previous experience working in a kitchen or catering environment.

* Good knowledge of traditional British dishes and ingredients.

* Understanding of food safety, hygiene and dietary requirements.

* Strong organisational and communication skills.

* A proactive, flexible attitude and willingness to learn.

* A genuine team player who contributes to a positive working environment.

* Good interpersonal skills, patience and empathy when working with elderly people.

* Reliability, professionalism and pride in the quality of food served.
