Junior BMS / Controls Engineer — Aftercare & Service
We are Automatry, a growing specialist contractor delivering electrical and BMS systems for high-end residential and commercial projects across London. We're now expanding our aftercare and service division, and we're looking for a Junior BMS Engineer to grow into a key part of it.
This is a long-term role for someone who is technically sharp, curious, and wants to build a career in smart building systems — a niche field that pays well as you progress, and that almost nobody your age knows exists.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Attending call-outs and planned service visits across our London client sites
- Connecting your laptop to BMS controllers (Titan Products, Delta Controls) to diagnose faults in control logic, sensors, actuators and plant operation — and fixing them
- Working side by side with our senior aftercare engineer, learning real fault-finding on real buildings from day one
- Monitoring client sites and spotting recurring issues before they become emergencies
- Documenting every fix and helping build our site knowledge base
- Progressing toward handling call-outs independently — and, in time, toward project and commissioning work
What We're Looking For:
This is a software and systems role, not an electrical installation role. Laptop, not cable pulling.
- A technical mindset and genuine interest in automation, smart systems, or BMS
- An engineering or technical qualification (HNC/HND, degree, or equivalent) in Building Services, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Science or similar
- Strong computer literacy — comfortable with laptops, system tools, and basic networking
- A logical, curious approach: you're the kind of person who needs to know why something doesn't work
- Comfortable travelling to sites across London (travel expenses paid)
- Valid ECS or CSCS card, or willingness to obtain one
- Right to work in the UK
- Proactive, well-spoken, and eager to learn from experienced engineers
Bonus points:
- Any exposure to BMS platforms — Trend, Tridium Niagara, Delta, Distech, Titan, KNX or similar
- Understanding of HVAC plant, control logic, or protocols like BACnet/Modbus
- Any programming or scripting experience
- Full UK driving licence
What We Offer:
- £27,000 – £31,000/year (based on experience)
- One-to-one, site-based learning from an experienced BMS engineer — real systems, not a classroom
- Hands-on exposure to Titan and Delta Controls systems on live London sites
- A clear route to grow with the company as you prove yourself
- Travel expenses paid for all site visits
- Monday to Friday, 8-hour days (start/finish times vary by site) — occasional Saturdays only if a client requests it, never mandatory, always paid
About the Team:
At Automatry, we're a tight-knit, experienced team who believe in doing things properly — and helping each other out along the way. Junior engineers are supported directly by senior staff and given room to learn, try, and grow. We're not just looking for another pair of hands — we're looking for someone who wants to be part of a team that's proud of the work we do.
To Apply:
Send us your CV and a short message about why this role sounds like a fit for you. We're interviewing this week — if you're technically capable and ready to get stuck in, we want to hear from you.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent, Graduate
Pay: £27,000.00-£31,000.00 per year
Application question(s):
- Please briefly describe any hands-on electrical or site work you've done - even if it was during training, college, or an apprenticeship.
- Are you able to travel daily to central London construction sites?
Work Location: In person
