Handmade in Bucks
Junior Bench Joiner / Trainee Furniture Maker
About the role
We are looking for an enthusiastic, reliable and practical person to join our small, growing furniture-making business, specialising in handmade furniture crafted from solid wood.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to start or develop a career in woodworking, joinery and furniture making. We are happy to train the right person, so previous experience is helpful but not essential.
You will be involved in making bespoke furniture from start to finish, learning new skills and working alongside an experienced team to produce high-quality, handcrafted pieces.
We are looking for someone who enjoys practical, hands-on work, takes pride in what they do and is keen to develop their skills in a skilled trade.
Key responsibilities
- Assist in making bespoke furniture from solid wood, from initial preparation through to completion.
- Measure, cut, sand, assemble and finish furniture to a high standard.
- Learn to use a variety of hand tools, power tools and woodworking machinery safely.
- Follow drawings, measurements and design specifications accurately.
- Help with wrapping and preparing finished furniture for delivery.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe workshop.
- Work as part of a small team to meet deadlines and maintain our high standards of quality.
What we are looking for
- A genuine interest in woodworking, joinery, furniture making or practical craftsmanship.
- A positive attitude and a willingness to learn new skills.
- Good practical ability, able to work under your own initiative and attention to detail.
- Reliability, a strong work ethic and pride in producing quality work.
- Someone who enjoys hands-on work and working as part of a small team.
- A willingness to learn how to use tools and machinery safely.
- Previous experience in furniture making or woodworking is an advantage but is not essential. Enthusiasm, reliability and the right attitude are just as important as experience, and training will be provided for the right candidate.
