Junior Activation Support Technician | London (Hybrid) | 12-Month Contract | £160/day Inside IR35

Widen The Net is hiring an Activation Support Technician for a global consumer tech brand. You’ll work alongside a Senior Technical Producer to deliver AR experiences at high-profile events across EMEA.

This is a great role for someone with a year of live events or AV experience who wants to grow into technical production. You’ll be hands-on from day one, setting up kit, fixing problems and keeping events running smoothly.

What you’ll do

• Support setup, calibration and strike of AR activations, including AR mirrors and wearable AR glasses
• Help troubleshoot hardware and software issues during live events
• Prepare event kits: update, charge and configure Mac and iOS devices before shipping
• Run network checks onsite, including speed tests and basic Wi-Fi and LAN setup
• Keep the setup clean and tidy so the experience looks seamless to guests
• Help with pre-production tasks on office days

What you’ll bring

• At least 1 year’s experience supporting live events, AV or event tech (freelance or crew work counts)
• Good Mac skills: you can reinstall or upgrade macOS and you’re comfortable with basic Terminal commands
• Basic networking knowledge, such as DHCP, IP addresses and running speed tests
• Some exposure to MDM tools such as Jamf is a plus
• Friendly and good with people, from producers to guests
• Organised, well prepared and calm under pressure
• Curious about new tech and quick to learn

Logistics

• London office 3 to 4 days a week when not travelling
• Regular travel across EMEA, with occasional US or APAC trips
• Evening and weekend work during event peaks
• Valid passport required
• 12-month contract, £160/day, Inside IR35 via umbrella
