This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is comfortable handling day-to-day accounting duties while also contributing to month-end reporting, financial analysis and audit preparation.

The Role

Perform detailed general ledger reconciliations.

Investigate financial discrepancies and complete variance analysis.

Assist with the preparation of draft annual financial statements and supporting notes.

Analyse departmental expenditure and report on budget variances.

Take ownership of the month-end close process for designated subsidiaries or areas of the business.

Prepare financial schedules, reports and supporting documentation.

Respond to external audit queries and provide the required evidence and working papers.

Support accounts payable, accounts receivable and other operational finance activities when required.

Interpret financial information and provide practical insights to management.

Assist with the improvement of financial controls, reporting processes and internal procedures.

Essential Requirements

A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent formal qualification in Accounting.

Between two and four years’ experience in an accounting or finance position.

A strong understanding of accounting principles and IFRS for SMEs.

Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables and VLOOKUPs.

Experience preparing journals, reconciliations and month-end reports.

Excellent numerical and analytical ability.

High attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.

Ability to manage competing priorities and meet strict deadlines.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

A professional approach and a high level of integrity and confidentiality.

Desirable Experience

Experience using Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, SAP or another recognised accounting platform.

Experience working within a growing, multi-company or distribution-based organisation.

Previous involvement in preparing annual accounts or supporting an external audit.

What We Are Looking For

The successful candidate will be commercially aware, organised and confident working both independently and as part of a team. You must be comfortable moving between operational bookkeeping duties and more detailed analytical work.

This position offers the opportunity to develop your accounting career within a growing company and take on greater responsibility as the finance function develops.
