Junior Accountant

Role Description This is a contract, Remote Junior Accountant role based in London. The Junior Accountant will support the finance team with day-to-day bookkeeping, including recording transactions, maintaining ledgers, and reconciling bank and supplier statements. Responsibilities include assisting with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, preparing and reviewing invoices, and monitoring payment schedules. The role also involves helping with month-end and year-end closing activities, supporting the preparation of financial statements, and providing documentation for audits and compliance reviews. The Junior Accountant will collaborate with colleagues to improve financial processes, respond to internal queries, and ensure accurate, timely financial reporting aligned with Auditaxes UK standards.

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in accounting principles, including double-entry bookkeeping, account reconciliation, and basic financial statement preparation.
• Proficiency with accounting software and spreadsheet tools (e.g., Excel), including data entry, use of formulas, and basic reporting.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail, with the ability to identify discrepancies and resolve them promptly.
• Effective organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with team members and explain financial information to non-finance stakeholders.
• Relevant education such as a diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; professional training or progress toward a recognized accounting qualification is an advantage.
• Prior internship or entry-level experience in an accounting or finance role is beneficial, particularly within audit, tax, or professional services environments.
