About Albany Beck

Albany Beck is a fast-growing Management Consultancy partnering with some of the world’s leading Financial Services organisations. With a team of 300+ people, we deliver specialist expertise across Technology, Change & Transformation, Cyber Security, Data, Regulatory Compliance and Business Operations, helping our clients deliver some of their most important programmes of work.

We’re at an exciting stage of our growth. We’ve continued to expand our client base, deepen relationships with existing clients, grow geographically and increase the breadth of work we deliver across Financial Services. As part of the next stage of that growth, we’re investing significantly in our Head Office team and are looking for an ambitious Account Manager to join us. This role could suit someone already working within Account Management, Sales or Business Development, or someone coming from a recruitment or consultancy environment who has gained exposure to managing clients, developing relationships and generating new business. We’re less concerned about your exact job title or background and much more interested in your attitude, commercial mindset, communication skills, work ethic and ambition.

Role Overview

You’ll work directly alongside one of our experienced Client Account Directors, giving you the opportunity to learn from someone who already manages established relationships across some of our key Financial Services clients. Importantly, you won’t be expected to start from a blank sheet of paper. You’ll have the opportunity to work within existing, warm Albany Beck accounts – building relationships with new stakeholders, understanding different areas of the organisation and identifying where else we can support the client.

As your knowledge and confidence grow, you’ll take increasing ownership of those relationships and opportunities yourself. At the same time, we want you to develop your own commercial network. You’ll be encouraged to identify, approach and build relationships with prospective clients, creating new opportunities and ultimately winning new accounts that you can develop and grow yourself. It gives you exposure to both sides of Account Management: learning how to grow established strategic accounts while also developing the skills to originate, win and build new client relationships from the ground up.

A major part of the role is about understanding clients properly. What are they trying to achieve? What programmes are coming up? Where are they experiencing challenges? Who else should we be speaking to? And where can Albany Beck genuinely add value?

Once an opportunity is identified, you’ll work closely with our internal Talent Acquisition and delivery teams to turn that conversation into a successful outcome – from understanding exactly what the client needs, through to identifying the right people and ultimately deploying Albany Beck consultants into the client. This isn't a role where you'll simply inherit a list of clients and maintain existing relationships. We want someone who is naturally curious, commercially minded and proactive – someone who wants to understand their clients properly, build genuine relationships, create opportunities and ultimately grow their own client portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working closely with an experienced Client Account Director to support and grow a portfolio of Financial Services clients.
  • Developing relationships within existing, warm Albany Beck accounts and identifying opportunities to expand our footprint.
  • Building relationships with new stakeholders, teams and business areas within existing clients.
  • Learning how to manage and develop strategic client accounts, with increasing ownership as your experience grows.
  • Proactively identifying and approaching prospective new clients.
  • Building your own network and pipeline of new business opportunities.
  • Winning new client relationships and, over time, taking ownership for developing and growing those accounts.
  • Understanding clients’ businesses, strategic priorities, programmes and challenges.
  • Holding regular conversations and meetings with clients to understand upcoming requirements and opportunities.
  • Identifying opportunities for Albany Beck to support clients through our consultancy capabilities and professional services.
  • Taking detailed briefs from clients and understanding exactly what they need from Albany Beck.
  • Working closely with our Talent Acquisition team to ensure client requirements are understood and the right people are identified.
  • Presenting suitable Albany Beck consultants and solutions back to clients.
  • Managing the client relationship throughout interview, selection, onboarding and deployment processes.
  • Maintaining relationships with consultants deployed across your client accounts and ensuring we continue to deliver a high-quality service.
  • Identifying opportunities to expand existing engagements into new teams, programmes or areas of the organisation.
  • Developing your understanding of Albany Beck’s capabilities across Technology, Change & Transformation, Cyber Security, Data, Regulatory Compliance and Business Operations.
  • Managing multiple client conversations, opportunities and priorities at the same time.
  • Working towards individual and team commercial targets.

Key Skills and Experience

We’re ideally looking for someone with around 1–3 years’ professional experience. You might already work in Account Management, Sales or Business Development, or you could come from a 360 Recruitment / Consultancy background where you’ve had exposure to clients and new business. More importantly, we’re looking for someone who:

  • Is ambitious and wants to build a successful commercial career.
  • Has a strong work ethic and is prepared to put the effort in.
  • Is confident, personable and enjoys building relationships.
  • Is commercially minded and motivated by winning and growing business.
  • Is proactive and comfortable creating opportunities rather than waiting for them.
  • Is naturally curious, asks good questions and wants to understand clients properly.
  • Is resilient and comfortable with the ups and downs that come with a sales-focused role.
  • Takes ownership, follows things through and can manage multiple priorities.
  • Takes feedback well and genuinely wants to learn and improve.
  • Wants to eventually build, grow and own their own portfolio of clients.

The Environment

Albany Beck is fast-paced, ambitious and growing quickly. We have significant expansion plans and work with clients who expect us to deliver.

`You can expect:

  • An ambitious, high-performance environment where people push themselves and each other.
  • High expectations – but plenty of support, coaching and recognition when you deliver.
  • A fast-moving environment where priorities and opportunities can change quickly.
  • Direct exposure to experienced Client Account Directors and senior people across the business.
  • The opportunity to take on more responsibility as quickly as your performance allows.
  • A culture where hard work, ownership, resilience and a positive attitude are genuinely valued.

We don't expect you to know everything from day one – we'll teach you. What we do expect is for you to bring the right attitude, work hard, ask questions, take feedback onboard and be hungry to progress.

What We Offer

  • The opportunity to join Albany Beck at an exciting point in our growth.
  • The chance to work directly alongside and learn from an experienced Client Account Director.
  • Immediate exposure to established, warm Financial Services accounts.
  • The opportunity to develop those accounts and build relationships with new stakeholders.
  • The freedom and support to identify and win new clients of your own.
  • The opportunity to build and eventually take ownership of your own client portfolio.
  • A clear career path with genuine opportunities to progress.
  • Hands-on training, coaching and support from experienced people across the business.
  • Exposure to some of the world's leading Financial Services organisations.
  • The opportunity to build relationships with senior stakeholders across the industry.
  • The chance to develop specialist knowledge across Technology, Change & Transformation, Cyber Security, Data, Regulatory Compliance and Business Operations.
  • Increasing responsibility and client ownership as quickly as your performance allows.
  • A collaborative, ambitious and high-performance environment.
  • Competitive salary, benefits and performance-related commission/bonus incentives.
  • Regular team and company incentives and events.
