We help businesses improve the performance, reliability and maintenance of their assets through practical engineering solutions, technical expertise and effective asset management.
We are looking for an enthusiastic Junior Engineer to join our growing team.
The Opportunity
Are you an engineering graduate with some industry experience, or an early-career engineer looking to take the next step?
Perhaps you've gained experience in manufacturing, maintenance, engineering operations or a technical environment and are looking for an opportunity to develop your career in engineering consultancy.
At GVG, you'll have the opportunity to work on a variety of engineering and asset management projects, gaining hands-on experience across different industries while developing your technical and professional skills.
You don't need to be an asset management specialist already. We're interested in candidates with a good engineering foundation, relevant practical experience and a willingness to learn.
You'll work alongside experienced engineers and consultants who will support your development while giving you the opportunity to take ownership of meaningful project activities.
What You'll Be Doing
- Supporting the delivery of engineering, maintenance and asset management projects for clients across different industries.
- Visiting industrial sites to identify, collect and verify engineering and equipment information.
- Working with engineers and site teams to understand equipment, maintenance activities and operational processes.
- Developing and maintaining asset registers, equipment hierarchies and technical data.
- Supporting maintenance planning, reliability improvements and maintenance strategy development.
- Reviewing and analysing engineering and maintenance data to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Assisting with the implementation and improvement of maintenance management systems, including SAP and other CMMS platforms.
- Preparing technical reports, project documentation and recommendations.
- Working directly with clients and developing your consultancy and project delivery skills.
What We're Looking For
We'd love to hear from candidates who have:
- A degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing or another relevant engineering discipline, or equivalent practical engineering experience.
- Ideally 1–3 years of experience in an engineering, manufacturing, maintenance or industrial environment.
- A basic understanding of engineering equipment, maintenance processes or technical data.
- Good analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Confidence communicating and working with different people.
- A proactive attitude and enthusiasm for developing new skills.
- A full UK driving licence.
- Willingness to travel to client sites across the UK, including overnight stays when required.
It Would Be an Advantage If You Have:
- Experience working in a manufacturing, utilities, industrial or engineering environment.
- Familiarity with maintenance management systems such as SAP or Maximo.
- Experience collecting, reviewing or analysing technical information.
- An interest in asset management, maintenance engineering or reliability improvement
Why Join GVG?
- Salary of £30,000–£34,000, depending on experience.
- Work on varied engineering projects across different industries.
- Gain valuable experience working directly with clients.
- Learn from experienced engineering and asset management consultants.
- Develop your technical knowledge and consultancy skills.
- Opportunities for professional development and career progression.
- Join a supportive, collaborative and friendly team.
