Google Ads Junior Strategist (Account Manager)
We are seeking a Junior Ads Strategist with experience managing Google Ads to join our ecommerce focused ads agency.
You will be managing digital media strategy and planning for client accounts across a range of sectors with a strong focus on ROI, and serving as the primary day to day point of contact for clients. You'll take the lead across a portfolio of e-commerce accounts, working directly with the founder on overall strategy but trusted to run the relationship yourself.
This is an ideal role for someone who has 3+ years experience with Google Ads and is looking for a role that offers more autonomy and an expansion in channel remit, where you will have ownership over a select group of client accounts, involvement with ad channels outside of Google and the ability to see your strategic planning have a direct impact on a variety of businesses.
We're hiring with the next three to five years in mind. The person who does this well grows into a senior strategist and, in time, a leadership role as we scale.
Responsibilities
The technical side of Google Ads you'll already have some of, and we'll develop the rest. The role will involve plenty of hands on campaign optimisation but most of the heavy lifting for campaign builds and day to day monitoring is handled by our activation team, who will work under your guidance. What matters most is:
- Leading client meetings with confidence. Setting the agenda, presenting the numbers, handling objections and concerns.
- Pushing back when a client's request isn't the right call, and making the case for a better one.
- Handling concerns and tricky conversations without escalating everything.
- Being the person clients are comfortable speaking to if the founder is unavailable.
- Turning performance metrics into a clear commercial story.
- Guiding clients on their strategy for other channels, in particular Meta ads, with support from other members of the team.
Day to Day
- Own paid search strategy and performance across your portfolio.
- Optimise campaigns across Shopping, Performance Max, Search, and YouTube
- Analyse performance and build your own reporting and recommendations.
- Work closely with our Paid Social Strategist on shared, cross-channel accounts
- Manage and develop two account executives (shared with another strategist) and guide our activation team to build campaigns.
- Contribute to pitches and account growth.
Requirements
Essential Experience
- Around 3 years Google Ads experience, ideally agency-side across multiple accounts, with experience across multiple formats.
- Familiarity with Google Merchant Centre
- E-commerce experience, with an understanding of ROAS, AOV, margin, and the difference between a good ROAS and a profitable one.
- Genuine confidence presenting to and advising clients.
- Strong numbers skills and comfortable building analysis in spreadsheets, not just reading dashboards.
- Clear communicator who can make complex data simple.
- Excellent problem solving abilities and a desire to find solutions for your clients.
- Basic negotiation, persuasion and conflict resolution skills.
- Native or highly fluent level of spoken and written English.
Preferred But Not Essential
- Shopify experience.
- Some exposure to paid social, particularly Meta. Most clients run both channels and we'll support you in developing this.
- Any experience mentoring a junior colleague or managing offshore teams.
Salary & Benefits
- Gross annual salary of £35,000 - £40,000 depending on experience
- 25 days holiday per year
- Profit share bonus after 1 year
- Option to buy or sell up to 5 days holiday
- Bonus day off for your birthday
- Annual Christmas wind down (3 days of very light working hours)
- Flexible working (see our office section for more details)
- Training allowance
- Good coffee, breakfast and weekly pizza in the office
Our Office & Hybrid Working
We already encouraged home working before it went mainstream, and so flexible working is firmly built into all our processes. You would be required to work from the office 2-3 days each week (reduced if you’re on holiday). All employees have the flexibility to start and finish earlier or later as and when needed for any reason, whether that’s an essential appointment or just because you fancy it, and we also give employees the flexibility to switch the standard public holiday dates with alternative days of their choosing.
We have a generous holiday allowance with 25 days as standard in addition to public holidays, a bonus day on or near your birthday, minimal working hours over the Christmas period and the ability to buy, sell or rollover up to 5 days of holiday each year. We also give the flexibility to take additional unpaid leave if required.
Our London office is based less than 5 minutes walk from Hammersmith station. We are on the first floor with disabled access throughout the building. The office has secure bike parking and showers.
We will be happy to discuss how our flexible working policy operates in more detail during the interview process.
